Purpose and operation of the Prayer Chain for Priests

On June 19th, 2009, our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI dedicated this year to the priests coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the death of St.John Mary Vianney "Cure of Ars". Pope Benedict chose St. Vianney as the role model and patron for today's priests.

Rev. Tim Birney invites you to discern your priestly vocation.

This announcement has had a highly positive global impact especially among the priests. Priests were anointed by God and for this reason they are constantly under attacks and temptations that seek to separate them from the mission for which the Lord has called them.

In order to continue to support this initiative, on April 1st, 2010 (Holy Thursday), this prayer chain for priests was launched. We invite you, my brother and sister in faith, to pray everyday but especially on Thursdays for a priest friend, relative or acquaintance.

We as catholic need to show our priests that we admire and love them and we are very thankful for the pastoral work they do and their life testimony. Priests are truly important not just for what they do but for what they are.

Praying for priests will benefit all of us. The more dedicated and holy priests we have, the more well trained people and stronger church we will have. The more faithful people in the church we have the fewer problems we will have, because people will conduct themselves with christian morals and values in their life. If we have more priests, we will assure The Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Praying for priests is a concern to all of us!

Every Thursday we will pray for all priests and for holy vocations. Participants in this prayer chain should select a priest to dedicate a holy hour. You may pray for another priest the same day by signing up at a different hour.

You may register one or more priests, however verify first that he is not already in the registration list. When you register a priest you need the folowing information: full name, country he is from and day he was ordained. Keep in mind that if you register a priest, you should support him with your weekly prayer.

Once you have registered to join in prayer, you should go to the section "Reserve time". The page will show vertical columns with all the Thursdays for the current month and highlighted in red is the Thursday for this week's prayer chain. First look for the column Thursday you want to pray and then within that column select the line with the desired prayer time, which is indicated at the left. Click on the shown number which indicates how many people have signed up so far for that Thursday and that specific time. A zero indicates that nobody has signed up yet to pray for that day and time. It is recommended to cover those in 0. This process should be done every time before you want to join the prayer chain. If you want to join every week, you can make your reservation for every Thursday in advance.

Also, please contact us at info@prayer4priests.com if you have any question or if you want to communicate a sickness or death of a registered priest.
